Entering the ARC-PA Provisional Accreditation Pathway

Provisional Accreditation Conference : (1.24.2012) The ARC-PA will be hosting a conference November 29-30, 2012 specifically for select individuals from institutions in the process of developing a new PA program in preparation for applying to the ARC-PA for provisional accreditation between 2014 - 2016. Summer 2012 ARC-PA "Accreditation and You" Workshop

Summer Accreditation Workshop (1.30.2012) The ARC-PA will hold its annual summer accreditation workshop designed for program faculty, staff and deans July 8-10, 2012. Programs are limited to two attendees per program.  Priority will be given to individuals from those programs scheduled for site visits between January 2013 and December 2016 and to individuals who did not attend the workshops in the summers of 2009, 2010 or 2011. This workshop is not open to individuals from unaccredited developing programs. Click here for workshop page.

Important Notes to Programs

(October 2011)

The ARC-PA has published a Notes to Programs document that includes information from its most recent commission meeting. This edition of the Notes includes several important points, including clarifying updates to the Standards, information on the accreditation program management portal, data analysis and the self-study report, the Standards degree deadline, the summative evaluation, posting of PANCE results on the web and more.

ARC-PA Policies

The ARC-PA has compiled a partial Policy Manual available here as an informational resource for physician assistant program faculty, staff and the general public in reference to Commission activities directly related to program accreditation. Many, but not all, of these policies are addressed in the Accreditation Manual. The Accreditation Manual is being updated and will include references to these policies where appropriate.

The Standards Degree Deadline Issue

The ARC-PA has developed a document to provide clarification about the masters degree requirement as described in the Standards, 4th edition. This document addresses expectations for all programs that do yet confer a graduate degree.

Preparing for a Site Visit

The ARC-PA will host a session at the fall 2011 PAEA meeting for programs preparing for a site visit before December, 2012.
